As well as local visitors, we welcome
sailors from many different countries who
come to explore the wonderful cruising,
and a number of competitors taking part
in popular sailing regattas and cruises
throughout the season. These include:
WEST HIGHLAND YACHTING WEEK
Oban is very much the hub for Tennents
West Highland Yachting Week with many
yachts using our facilities at Oban
Marina. The regatta has become one of
the leading international yachting events
and provides a spectacle of sail around
Craobh, Oban and Tobermory. With both
round the buoys and passage racing,
and an excellent social programme, this
popular mix of the serious and the not
so serious continues the tradition begun
at the very first Regatta in 1882. |

CLASSIC MALTS CRUISE
The marina welcomes the Classic Malts Cruise over the
last two weeks of July to Kerrera when visitors, united
by a passion for sailing, scenery and single malt whisky,
embark on a 200-mile voyage through the Inner
Hebrides, choosing their own route from Oban to Skye,
and back south to Islay, visiting distilleries such as
Oban, Talisker and Lagavulin.
OTHER EVENTS
In May, Oban is the starting point for the famous
Scottish Islands Peaks Race which is a gruelling test of
sailing skills and fell running stamina.
The Bell Lawrie Scottish Series is Scotland’s premier
yachting event, attracting 200 competing yachts and
providing the only international standard competition
for IRC yachts in Scotland. |
