GDPR and Oban Marina


Privacy Policy


From the 25th May 2018 the new General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) will govern the protection of personal data.   


At Oban Marina, we are committed to keeping your data safe and secure and ensuring that we are compliant with all the relevant legislation. 

The main aim of the GDPR is to provide more control over how organisations use data. Companies have an obligation to store securely customer data, be transparent about any data held when asking new and existing participants to supply details, and also to delete any data once expired or when asked to do so by its clients.


Our policy here at the Marina is to take data from our customers i.e. berth-holders and store it on a system called Marina Genius. This is password protected and has a limited number of authorized users. We do not share the data with any other organisation or individual and we do not use it for marketing purposes. It is purely held so that we can contact berth-holders regarding their boats. If at any time you wish us to delete your data when you are no longer a berth-holder then please do contact us.


Some customer data is stored as hard copy and locked securely away in our offices. Any “out of hours” forms which are completed upon arrival when the Reception is closed will be transferred to Marina Genius and the paper copy destroyed.

Any credit card details for payments made over the phone are not held or stored by us at any time.

You as our customers, have the right to access your data at any time and may contact us to do so.


We have appointed a Data Protection Officer to oversee the policy. This will be Jillian Blair who runs our Reception.
